It has been said that love can be a costly and dangerous thing. True, and genuine love always means some sacrifice, even if it’s the sacrifice of not always getting to do what I want or getting my way. But love, at times, has cost much more than that. When you truly love someone, it will change your life – that’s a definite…but at times it can cost your life.

Then David the warrior, and finally, David the King. But what made him David, one who walked close to the heart of God? In this series, we will try to determine the answer to that question. For weeks now, we have been walking through a conversation Jesus was having with his followers, trying to prepare them for what was soon going to happen. But the reality was, he was the one who would be walking through the trauma of the events that were soon to take place…which would culminate with his death. That would be his journey. Certainly, it would impact those around him…but the reality is this was a path that he would personally have to walk. And it was an unknown journey. He would be experiencing pain to a degree that he had never experienced before. Unimaginable brutality. Heartbreaking accusations that were completely untrue. And then, the sins of humanity coming down on him with crushing force. How do you prepare for something like that? We begin a new series and see where Jesus turned first, to prepare himself for what lay ahead.

Have you ever sat at the side of the bed of a loved one who is in his final hours of life? The conversations that take place in those last few hours are very possibly the most significant of any conversation you have ever had with that person. It is in that moment they have the intensity and clarity to say what is most powerfully on their heart. In this series we will listen in on Jesus last conversation with his followers and his last prayer to the Heavenly Father regarding those he loved.

The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to a bunch of Christ followers living in Rome in the first century.
